ORGANISATION DESCRIPTION

Hope for children International (HOCI), is a Youth centered community based Development Organization. Officially recognized as a registered NGO in Cameroon on December 20, 2014 with registration number 09.G.3/14/1/vol.8/119/OAPP. HOCI uses the power of sports to educate, inspire and mobilize youths and communities to stop the spread of HIV, alcohol, drug use, unemployment and awaken talents, to ensure a smooth transition into responsible adulthood. POSITION DESCRIPTION

Working under the supervision of the Project Manager and the CEO, the volunteers will primarily be responsible to carry out or implement outreach activities developed by the project manager in collaboration with volunteers. Volunteers will be the contact persons with all partners of the organization to ensure good relationship and the effective implementation of outreach project activities. Volunteer will research in the fields of intervention of the organization, design and propose activities to implement.

Principal responsibilities

Ø  Carry out Outreach activities designed by the organization in respect of all its principles

Ø  Assist the project Specialist in the identification and design of Important outreach activities

Ø  Use research data and statistics to prepare, concept notes for short activities and outreach  

Ø  Integrate the implementation of existing projects and assist in the monitoring and evaluation process

Ø  Communicate through different ways with various partners concerning outreach activities

Secondary Responsibilities

Ø  Assist in the coordination of outreach activities organized

Ø  Participate in all training sessions both internal and external

Ø  Assist in the preparation of activity budget relating to outreach to different schools

Ø  Write outreach activity reports

Ø  Attend all monthly coordination meetings

Ø  Prepare end of week report on task carried out and work plan for subsequent outreach activities

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ø  Strong time management skills and ability to identify priorities

Ø  Excellent communication and public speaking skills

Ø  Good report writing skills

Ø  Good knowledge on project design interpretation and implementation

Ø  Good knowledge of fundraising strategies

Ø  Strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate various responsibilities and prioritize conflicting demands and deadlines

Ø  Strong capacity to work independently and as part of a team

Ø  Must be duty conscious

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Ø  At least one year of experience as an intern, volunteer or employee in a local or international NGO

Ø  At least a bachelor’s degree in development studies, project management, business and finance or any other relevant field.

Ø  Must be computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Ø  English language fluency (reading, writing, speaking) and basic knowledge in French

NB. The duties and responsibilities can be modified in case the organization receives funding for any new project during the volunteers period of service. The volunteers MAY or MAY NOT be directly recruited to participate in the implementation of any project that is funded during the period of service. However, the primary objective of this opportunity is not for an employment contract at the end of the volunteer period. It is to build the skills and expertise of volunteers in the domain of outreach activities related to different projects. The volunteers will benefit from a preliminary training covering different areas of development, which HOCI intervenes. The volunteer will also represent the organization at workshops, conferences, seminars, etc.

Volunteer Period: 6 months volunteer period renewable once

Remuneration: HOCI does not have any budget allocated for volunteer positions as of present. Volunteers should not therefore expect any form of financial remuneration. However, the organization will cover all cost related to activities.

Deadline for Applications: Applications are due by 10th April 2021

Work Venue- Apart from implementing outreach activities in different schools selected, the volunteer will work FROM HOME when not on outdoor activities. The Volunteers will attend all meetings and trainings organized at HOCI head office.
