Ensures that Pupils/Students who have subscribed to the School’s Bus Service be picked up, brought to School and get back to their destinations safely, on time and in the most cost-effective way.

 

Job description

 

The Transport and Logistics Manager works hand in glove with the Human Resources Director, manages the transport Personnel, departmental budget, organizes schedules & routes, ensuring that vehicles are safe and meet legal requirements, and making sure that drivers are aware of their duties.

He will oversee purchasing, materials management, inventory management, spare parts, distribution and transport. 

 

Transport management:

• Directing all transportation activities.
• Developing transportation relationships.
• Monitoring transport costs.
• Negotiating and bargaining repair works, insurance and vehicle parts.
• Dealing with the effects of congestion at the School’s entrance.
• Negotiating and consulting in the process of purchase of New School Vehicles.
• Works with Front desk and secures Statistics of Pupils/Students who subscribe to be picked up and dropped.

Logistics:

• Planning routes and load scheduling for multi-drop deliveries.
• Allocating and recording resources and movements on the transport planning system.
• Ensuring all parents who subscribe to the School’s transportation System receive the services paid for.  
• Communicating effectively with parents, the School Administration and responding to their requirements.
• Booking sub-contractors and ensuring they deliver within agreed terms.

Work conditions

-     Availability: Must be available to oversee the running and welfare of all the buses and vehicles owned by the School and their Drivers.

 

Working hours: It is a Full time Appointment.  Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the School as working hours vary, with long hours and possibly shifts including weekends common.

 

Location: Logbessou – Douala - Cameroon.

• Ability to appraise and use IT packages and electronic communication methods.
• Tact, diplomacy and calmness, especially when dealing with tired drivers and disgruntled Parents.
• An analytic mind and good numeracy skills.
• Excellent geographical knowledge.
• Good people management and coordination skills.
• Excellent financial acumen.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Extensive knowledge of the transportation industry.
• Good intuition to make crucial judgment calls.

Specific Qualifications required

• Open to non-graduates and graduates of any discipline.
• Some experience in the transport sector will be an added advantage.
• Must be computer literate.
