Minimum age: 25 years old. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.
Description of task
Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Chief Integrated Mission Training Centre or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer Training Assistant will:
· Handle IMTC database by entering fresh and updated accounts and information.
· Organize source data for entry by assembling and classifying information, as well as certifying entry preferences.
· Coordinate training events, seminars and workshops aimed at enhancing the competencies and technical skills of personnel; training events also include technical and substantive modules, induction briefings, safety and security briefs, leadership, management, communication skills, and planning.
· Undertake all actions required in designing, developing, delivering, and evaluating training and development programmes for AMISOM, UNSOM,and UNSOS staff
· Collaborate with other Sections including the Gender Advisor, HIV/AIDS advisor, staff counselor, and other UN agencies to ensure that cross-cutting issues are incorporated in the design of training and development programmes; Promote client-focused and responsive services in UNSOM/UNSOS by working with senior staff to identify forthcoming training requirements and develop strategies to meet these;
· Performs other duties as required.
Required degree level
Bachelor degree or equivalent
Educational additional comments
Technical training in design and delivery of training to adults and the design and provision of adult learning opportunities is desirable.

· At least 5 years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in administrative services, or other relevant programmes;
· Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, report drafting, data management;
· Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;
· Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;
· Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
· Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
· Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
· Desirable: valid national driver’s license and proven ability to drive manual gear 4x4 over rough terrain;
· Sound security awareness;
