Prima Finance & Investment Plc is a growing microfinance institution (MFI) in Cameroon with the mission to provide sustainable financial services to the poor to help them work their way out of poverty. To achieve this, we offer products and services – Savings, Insurance, Money Transfer, Payments, Loans, digital finance products and Financial Education (SIMPLE). The company specialises in offering innovative financial services to those traditionally excluded from the formal financial services sector in the country. These are usually the poor, self-employed, small business owners, and community organisations lacking the finance to grow their businesses or other investments. Prima Finance & Investment PLC offers services surpassing many other MFIs in Cameroon thanks to our state-of-the-art technology and strong management team.

POSITION INFORMATIONS
• Post Title: Unit head, Partnerships & Business Development
• Duty station: Yaounde, Cameroon
• Reports to Managing Director
• Duration of appointment: Permanent with a yearly renewable contract upon performance assessment.
• Probation period: 3 months’ probation period with the possibility of extension.
• Language required: English and French
• Salary Range: to be discussed
• Benefits: open to global exposure, possible travels and learnings
• Bonuses: At least 30% of yearly salary, contingent on performance and the attainment of targets.
• Start date: Immediately.






General Terms of Reference
Reporting to the General Manager, this position serves as a management team member and an active participant in making strategic decisions affecting Prima Finance and Investment (PFI). This position supports fundraising and leads the development and management of strategic partnerships. The successful candidate will help forge new relationships to build PFI's visibility, impact, and financial resources. S/he will expand and diversify PFI's donor base/pipeline, work closely with his team to secure funding for new initiatives, and design initiatives for vital external partnerships. The successful candidate can thrive in a dynamic and agile organization committed to an ambitious vision amongst an entrepreneurial and collaborative team.

As Director of Strategic Partnerships and Business Development, you are intimately involved in the entire sale cycle, from identifying & engaging key accounts and setting up sales presentations to contract negotiations. Your persistence and trust-based style are essential for closing large deals at the C-Suite level. You engage third-party resources that provide unique contacts and context for certain strategic partnerships. Those engagements focus on specific partner categories (ex., financial services / Fintech, insurance/team member benefits, and affinity groups) or high-value partners that serve vital communities.

About the Role
- The role interacts with PFI management and the Board Chair to define annual product research and development needs to sponsor relevant external research through a global fellowship network.
- The role oversees the development of product level partnerships aimed at strengthening the offerings of PFI to its partners and co-financiers.
- The role builds relationships with major developmental partners and Private Sector partners such as business enterprises, philanthropic and corporate foundations, and financial institutions and seeks to establish a new network of collaborative alliances with private and public entities to augment the Bank's contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals.
- The Director plays a crucial role in expanding PFI's off-balance fund activities to leverage PFI's prestigious reputation and financial credibility.
- The role provides thought leadership around new and innovative development resource mobilization mechanisms in line with the new business model to serve the Sustainable Development Goals.
- The role is responsible for establishing a new business model through crowd engagement.
The role is responsible for raising visibility of PFI through representing PFI in major development events and developing and implementing a capacity building, and producing knowledge products for external partners.
Primary Responsibilities
• Support all major fundraising initiatives by providing pre-agreed information in a professional and timely manner.
• Lead the development of new strategic partnerships
• Ability to conceptualize and design new programs and initiatives, as well as sell the new programs and initiatives to potential donors
• Have primary responsibility for the development and execution of all proposals; write and archive all proposals with a long-term relationship-management approach
• Research funding sources and trends to help position PFI ahead of significant funding changes or trends
• Monitor all donor information; provide and present statistical analysis to board and senior leaders
• Develop and implement a stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors
• Monitor and report regularly on the progress of the business development program

Qualifications
• 5 + years of the proven negotiator at the C-suite level with a minimum of 2 years of strategic partnership experience
• Demonstrated success in a development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources)
• Successful program management experience in an organization is preferred
• High energy and passion for our vision and mission are essential
• Substantial experience of having expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships over time. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors
• Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail. Flexible and adaptable style; a leader who can execute both strategic and tactical plans
• A team player who is productively engaging with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside PFI
• Master's degree in economics and social sciences but preferably in business management, strategic partnership and or business development preferred
• Ability to proactively problem solve under pressure Positive attitude
