Related with our activities we are looking for a Specialized Technician

 

Working locations: Based in Bamenda with travel to other parts of North West Region

Type of contract: CDD

Salary: According to the organisation´s Salary Grid.

Main Purpose

Ø  Performing autonomously, complex / advanced installation and maintenance of electrical and other energy systems in all Doctors without Borders (DWB) facilities across the mission (offices, health structures, warehouses, etc.

Ø  Performing autonomously and following up, the maintenance and correct repair of the biomed equipment in the project/mission and ensuring regularly that the usual medical maintenance and cleaning are done properly.

Ø  Performing work in support of skilled workers in the maintenance of DWB premises, facilities and equipment in the areas of carpentry, plumbing, building structures, gardening, etc.

Principal Tasks

1. Performing and carrying out, all necessary complex / advanced installation, maintenance and repair of Doctors without Borders (DWB) Biomedical and Air Condition (AC) equipment and ensuring that all the equipment are serviced on time and should not be out of service at any given time. This includes the following tasks: 

A) Organizing, participating in the installation of biomedical, and AC equipment

B) Following the schedule and carrying out preventive and curative maintenance works for the equipment according to the Doctors without Borders (DWB) and/or manufacturer's protocols, manuals, and recommendations.

C) Reporting any issues or problems on biomed/AC equipment to his/her supervisor and proposing solutions (training of staff on a device, operating procedures, etc.). If maintenance work requires further assistance, documentation or additional tools, this shall be requested from and provided by his/her supervisor.

D) Managing the stock of consumable items and keeping inventory.

E) Responsible for the equipment and tools (including extinguishers), checking they are correctly and safely used, maintaining and renewing them when necessary and keeping the inventory updated.

 

2. Ensuring all electrical installations in DWB facilities comply with Doctors without Borders (DWB) standards, performing autonomously, and ensuring, all necessary complex / advanced electrical installations, maintenance and repairs, according to the supervisor’s instructions. This includes the following tasks: 

A) Ensuring that all record sheets and books related to maintenance are always completed and preparing needed reports before and after any repair or required maintenance

B) Carrying out critical rehabilitation tasks and corrective maintenance interventions and the coordination and execution of required tasks as well as installation of needed electrical equipment as defined by each project. C) Carrying out and updating the electrical installations inventory in DWB missions’ facilities and performing annual maintenance procedures and safety checks across facilities in the project.

D)Identifying local technical actors, and organizing their participation in the project (training of technical staff, establishing relations with local companies, contractors and suppliers, quotations, contracts, etc.)

E)Making suggestions regarding any repair or maintenance work needed in Doctor Without Borders(DWB) electrical installations and equipment and assisting logistics department with any urgent support/advice or any relative work needed

F) Managing the stock of consumable items related to Electrical, Biomedical and AC installation

G) Responsible for the equipment and tools (including extinguishers), checking they are correctly and safely used, maintaining and renewing them when necessary and keeping the inventory updated.

H) Keeping all working area clean and tidy.

    3. Performing work in support of skilled workers in the maintenance of DWB premises, facilities and equipment in the areas of carpentry, plumbing, building structures, gardening, etc. This can include but are not limited to the following:

      I.        Loading and unloading vehicles and assisting DWB staff carrying items if necessary

    II.        Ensuring there is enough water and reporting their scarcity

   III.        Performing simple earthwork for fixing pipes and drains and checking the water level in the water tanks and reporting the functionality of the water set up(pump controller).

  IV.        Making minor repairs, maintenance and construction works e.g. changes light bulbs, repairs      locks, fix fences, painted surfaces

   V.        Doing the gardening in order to maintain clean and organized all areas in the DWB premises

  VI.        Ensuring cleanliness of working, common areas and the proper use, storage and maintenance of the equipment and tools provided.

 VII.        Informing superiors of any incident that may occur in the course of his/her work.

VIII.        Ensuring that waste is collected and disposed in accordance with the local regulations for waste disposal and environmental protection. Additionally cleaning the gutter between the street and DWB compound.

  IX.        Transport waste in a responsible way, respecting the surrounding communities and undertakes all yard cleaning(yard only) and green keeping activities in the DWB Base

   X.        Performing tasks delegated to him/her as specified in his/her job description.

 

Required Qualifications

·         Diploma as mechanical or electrical technical

·         Diploma as Biomedical technician

·         Demonstrable practical technical skills and understanding.

·         Previous technical knowledge and practical experience in electricity and knowledge of Biomed would be an added advantage. (Minimum 3 years' experience).

·         Pedagogical skills are an asset.

·         English language and Pidgin English are essential.
