DESCRIPTION

The Association for the Promotion of Local Development (APDEL) is an independent organization created in 2014 to help people (mainly young people) who are victims of social inequalities. We are currently working in 2 regions of Cameroon (North – West and West) in crisis, reconstruction and development contexts to help save lives and rebuild the future. Our association has consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. Our vocation is to promote and defend the fundamental rights of vulnerable and marginalized people as defined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948, helping them as best we can to do without us in the long term. To meet the needs of the people, we develop our expertise from year to year and we adapt to the needs and the contextual evolution of the localities in which we act. We are currently working in 4 complementary areas with a multisectoral and complementary approach: protection, food security and livelihoods, social cohesion and the promotion of peace, and health.In these sectors of intervention, we have a focus on:

*    Social cohesion and the promotion of peace : awareness of peace, conflict prevention, youth employment, restoration of social ties, HIMO activities.

*    Food Security and Livelihoods (SAME) : Agriculture, Income Generating Activities, Livestock, Village Savings and Credit Association (AVEC).

*    Protection : gender-based violence, children's rights and rule of law.

*    Health : mental health and psychosocial support, distribution of hygiene kits.

For 2 years, we have been using new technologies to support our intervention in the field. Our interventions are implemented in strict compliance with the principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, independence, transparency and adaptation, and local inclusion. More details: www.apdel.cm . As part of our psychosocial support and mental health activities in the West region, we are looking for a motivated, dynamic and experienced Social Cohesion Project Manager .

NB: this position is open subject to funding

 

GOALS

The Social Cohesion Project Manager will be in charge of ensuring the implementation of the project in the West region, in particular the municipalities of Bafoussam 1 er and Foumban. She/he is a member of the APDEL coordination team and as such will ensure that APDEL's activities in their area of ??intervention are implemented in accordance with internal procedures and in respect of the local context of intervention. .

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Planning, implementation and supervision of activities

*    Ensures the planning of project activities

*    Support the updating of tools for collecting and monitoring activities;

*    Supervise the management of equipment by the project teams.

*    Supervises the team in the planning, implementation and monitoring of community mobilization activities and labour-intensive work sites;

*    Accompanies the staff in setting up HIMO projects.

*    Oversees the organization and preparation of training sessions and other events related to the project.

 

Managerial management of its teams, support and capacity building for all staff on the project

*    Validates the supervision schedule for the teams under his responsibility;

*    Performs formative supervision of field agents in order to verify the correct filling of monitoring tools and data each week and each end of the month;

*    Participates in the budget monitoring of the project;

*    Evaluates the staff under his responsibility;

 

Design of tools, collection, writing and analysis of reports

*    Collects and analyzes data related to project activities

*    Writes reports of project activities

*    Writes internal reports (monthly report) and external reports (interim and final report) of the project

*    Participates in the design of technical documents and communication media

 

Support of its teams on coordination and representation activities

*    Contributes to maintaining the technical image of APDEL in the area.

*    Contributes to the quality of relations with partners;

*    Guarantees respect for the principles and values ??of APDEL in terms of partnership;

*    Participates in technical meetings or workshops and ensures the synergy of APDEL's actions with the various partners;

*    Ensures proper involvement of local authorities in the implementation of the project.

 

Analysis and understanding of the security and humanitarian context

*    Ensures security and humanitarian monitoring in the areas of intervention and provides quality analysis to guide the implementation of the project;

*    Provided credible information and understanding of the security context and humanitarian access incidents country-wide and appropriate advice to APDEL staff and programs;

*    Submit regular reports on the dynamics of the security environment and the conditions of humanitarian access in the area of ??intervention.

 

REQUIRED PROFILE

*    At least BAC + 3 in social sciences;

*    3 years of experience in a similar position;

*    Experience in the implementation of HIMO and community mobilization projects;

*    Experience working in civil society is an asset;

*    Experience in capacity building, particularly for adults and children;

*    Experience working with young people would be an asset;

*    Knowledge of project management;

*    Knowledge in communication for development and advocacy;
