Job description

To contribute to the management of forests, protected areas, forest landscapes and biodiversity in Cameroon in order to contribute to sustainable development in rural areas in a context of climate change. To ensure the establishment, protection and sustainable development of protected areas; The environment and natural resources are developed in a sustainable way by local actors (Municipality of Yoko).

Your tasks

  •  Support to the commune of Yoko for the organisation of its Communal Forestry Cell (CFC) and the development of its forestry projects
  •  Assist the commune in developing an organisational chart and budget for establishing a CFC
  •  Assist the CFC in determining its role and activities in general, and build the capacity of the CFC to monitor forest inventories and develop the management plan for the communal forest
  •  Strengthen the general capacity of the commune for the management of the communal forest
  •  Supporting the commune of Yoko to initiate and implement a process of pre-emption of communal land reserves for forestry projects and investments
  •  Development of an integrated holistic co-management strategy for the Yoko landscape c3vEYr6 vb91d
  •  Support the commune of Yoko in the organisation and capacity building of the Peasant Forest Committee
  •  Supporting community forests to identify income generating activities (IGA projects) in forestry (e.g. teak) or agroforestry (e.g. cocoa)"

Your profile

  •  University degree in a field related to forestry, biology, biodiversity, environmental management, natural resource management, agriculture, agronomy or any other related field
  •  A first successful experience in "multi-stakeholder participation"; working experience in Cameroon would be an asset
  •  Practical experience with the use of participatory methods; adaptability, versatility and patience are strongly advised
  •  Team spirit; pracitacal experience with participatory management and the mobilisation of stakeholders around a project
  •  Mastery of relevant computer tools; experience in cartography would be an asset
  •  Good French and English skills

short term position! Only candidates can be considered who had already a

Willingness to travel on a regular basis is required.
