As part of the implementation of the Supply component of Cameroon country programme, Supply & Logistic unit has as a Supply & Logistics Associate post, in Bertoua field office.  Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Field Operation and technical supervision of the Supply & Logistics Specialist the position will support; low value procurement, transport/distributions, warehouse and stocks management and monitors distribution at partners warehouses.

How can you make a difference?

The efficiency and effectiveness of the support provided by the Sr. Supply & Logistics Associate to the development, implementation and monitoring of logistics component facilitates the delivery of concrete and sustainable results for the respective section, which in turn enhances the offices and UNICEF's capacity in helping the most vulnerable women and children.

  • Support field office with low value procurement, development of appropriate specifications for quality products/supplies while ensuring procurement is in line with procurement guidelines
  • Prepare Request for Quotations (RFQs) and conduct analysis of offers to achieve best value for money. Follow up on order fulfillment, payment and purchase order closure while keeping stakeholders informed on the progress.
  • Coordinate shipments of supplies from central warehouse to the field office warehouse and delivery to counterpart for timely distribution of supplies. Support with quality assurance.
  • Ensure supplies storage and dispatch is in line with office procedure, ensuring authorization and proper documentation for dispatch, warehousing, transportation and distribution.
  • Prepare loading plan and certification transport estimates by ensuring the cost is as per LTA terms. monitor service provision by contractors and certify the invoices.
  • Ensure internal control systems are in place in warehouse management, supplies receipt, records keeping, storage arrangement, reporting in line with procurement and logistics SOP and guidelines.
  • Support programme in the field office on planning supply & logistics activities for timeline distribution of supplies.
  • Support activity of end user monitoring, collating feedback into a database for actions implementation follow up.
  • Participate in partnerships and collaborative relations with UN organizations to support harmonized and collaborative procurement and logistics arrangements in the field. Advise supply & Logistics Specialist on Supply & Logistics developments/activities in the field office..
  • Ensure appropriate filing of procurement & Logistics records are maintained for future reference including for audit. Maintain and share periodic procurement & Logistics report capturing activities in the field office, including report on supplies status at partners warehouses

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

First university degree or equivalent (BTS / DUT) in, economics or law or logistics, supplemented by courses in technical or Supply, logistics or related field.

Experience:

Minimum 7 years of work experience, in procurement, logistics or other administrative function in a commercial working environment.

  • Thorough knowledge of a range of specialized topics, including the relevant supply chain policies, partnership mechanisms, rules and regulations.
  • High level of proficiency or skill is required in the interpretation and application of specialized rules and regulations to the particular circumstances of complex individual cases.
  • Experience using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other UNICEF office tools.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the relevant supply chain processes and ability to consistently apply relevant policies, procedures and good practices in the daily work. Good judgement in order to handle complex cases including considerations for exceptions.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients, suppliers and colleagues and gain the assistance and cooperation of others in a team endeavor.
  • Ability to use supply related modules in SAP system added advantage
  • Ability to establish priorities and plan his/her own work and plan, coordinate and monitor the work of those under his/her supervision.
  • Ability to draft clear and concise reports or rationale for supply related decisions on key issues.

Language Requirements: Fluency in French and knowledge of English
