• Position Title: Patient’s Follow-up Research assistant. 

• About Us: The Data Science Centre for the Study of Surgery, Injury and Equity in Africa (D-SINE

Africa) is an organization located at University of Buea responsible for the systematic collection

of data on injuries through Trauma Registries in various hospitals across the country in

collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health of Cameroon. D-SINE Africa is a multiinstitutional

organization

involving

multiple

countries

(Cameroon,

USA,

South

Africa,

and

 

Uganda)

and

is

funded

by

the

National

Institutes

of

Health

(NIH)

and

the

Fogarty

International

 

Center

(FIC).

The

ultimate

mission

of

D-SINE

Africa

is

to

reduce

the

burden

of

injuries

and

bridge

 

the

gap

of

inequities

to

access

to

surgical

services

in

African

countries.

• Job Description: This is a full-time position for a 1-year contract which is renewable during the

5-year period of the project depending on individual performance and availability of funds. 

Using a cellular phone and under the direct authority of a Program Manager, the follow-up

research assistant will be responsible for conducting follow-up assessments of discharged

trauma patients who provided a contact phone number. Working hours will be 9am-5pm,

Monday to Friday, and he/she will be given a 1-hour lunch break. 

• Applicant Requirements: All applicants MUST fulfil the following conditions: 

o Be holders of at least a Bachelor Degree or any equivalent. 

o A university degree in a health-related field and/or a working experience in a hospital, 

especially in the emergency department or surgical ward would be an advantage. 

o Be computer literate and proficient in using basic data entry software. 

o Speaking both English and French fluently would be an advantage. 

o Be highly motivated. 

o Be available to work in any of the following locations: Yaounde, Maroua, Bafoussam,

Bafia, Kribi, Bertoua. The applicant will be expected to indicate his preferred

location on the cover letter. 

o Be available to start work immediately.
