GREAT OPPORTUNITY-MASSIVE RECRUITMENT OF JOURNALISTS: Call for applications: Cameroonian journalists to work in Douala, Bafoussam and Ngaoundéré:

CONTEXT The Route des Chefferies (DRC) is a unique cultural and tourism development program in sub-Saharan Africa, aimed at bringing populations to reclaim their heritage while contributing to their economic and social development. Jointly implemented by the Association Nord-Ouest Cultures and the Pan-African Cultural Engineering Agency, the NO’OCULTURES Program intends to contribute to the structuring, professionalization and promotion of art criticism in Africa.

Since January 2021, the DRC has been implementing a project to strengthen the employability of young people in the heritage and cultural and creative industries (ICC) sector in Cameroon, through its Heritage Training Center and Cultural and Creative Industries (CEFOPICC). It also provides for the organization of a Cameroonian cultural season in Paris, with the highlight of an unprecedented exhibition at the Musée du Quai Branly (France) from April to July 2022, under the title “On the Route of the Chefferies of Cameroon: from visible to invisible ”.

As part of these activities, the Route des Chefferies and the NO’OCULTURES Program, in partnership with the Network of Cultural Journalists of Cameroon, are implementing the Cameroonian journalists project in the service of heritage. This project aims to strengthen the capacities of Cameroonian media men on cultural heritage issues. It has the support of the Embassy of France and the French Institute in Cameroon.

Project “Cameroonian Journalists Service of Heritage” for activities: A workshop-face for three days around the theme “Media and Heritage” A 5-week online training course on “Writing about heritage” A competition for the best content on heritage, the winner of which will be paid for the cover of the exhibition planned at the Musée du Quai Branly. The publication of a special file on heritage in the magazine NO’OCULTURES in July 2022.

In view of the selection of beneficiaries, the project is launching a call for applications to journalists residing in Cameroon.

OBJECTIVES

To improve, with a view to professionalizing it, the approach of journalists in processing information related to heritage. Train young journalists and strengthen their editorial capacities in heritage journalism with a view to facilitating their socio-professional integration into the media and art criticism sector. At the end of the training, participants will have acquired the concepts to build a coherent discourse around heritage and improve their writing techniques. TARGET Journalists specializing in the collection, processing and dissemination of cultural information, working regularly in a media or freelance. Date & place of training Face-to-face training is organized in Yaoundé, and distributed in the following cities: Douala, Bafoussam and Ngaoundéré from Thursday 27 to Saturday 29 January 2022. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA Master the fundamentals of journalism Work regularly as a journalist Justify an interest in the arts and culture Have internet access Master computer tools

APPLICATIONS

To apply, those interested and fulfilling the above-mentioned eligibility conditions are invited to submit their application file, which necessarily includes: An updated curriculum vitae; A cover letter specifying the candidate’s commitment to follow all the stages of the training, if he or she is selected; Two articles / productions on culture; A letter of recommendation from the Publishing Director or Editor-in-Chief of the medium employing the candidate (for freelancers, proof of being able to publish in a medium);
