Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 25 years old. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.

Description of task

Under the overall guidance and direct supervision of the FAO Representative and in cooperation with the relevant teams in FAO’s Regional Office in Accra and FAO Headquarters in Rome, the Logistics and Supply chain Specialist will work closely with project teams, admin and operations officers, Government officials, private sector, non-government and civil society organizations and specifically perform the following functions:

·         Coordinate and follow up with the Procurement division and streamline the procurement process.

·         Coordinate and follow up with HQ procurement Colleagues for timely delivery of services and supplies to the field and country office.

·         Technical support to the Admin and procurement Teams

·         Inventory taking of all assets and proper labeling of assets as per projects

·         Preparing regular updates on the supply status of the program.

·         Monitor all project activities, expenditure and progress towards achieving project outputs;

·         Monitor and evaluate overall progress on achievement of results and the sustainability of project results;

·         Suggest strategies to the project management team for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of procurement and supply by identifying bottlenecks in completing procurement processes and developing plans to minimize or eliminate such bottlenecks;

·         Ensure existence and functionality of the bid committees;

· Implement processes and procedures to combat unauthorized, irregular, fruitless and wasteful expenditure;

·         Report monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and annual progress on all logistics, procurement and supply activities to the FAOR

·         Provide input, information and statistics for quarterly, annual and other reports to the project management team

·         Participate in annual project reviews and planning workshops and assist Project Managers in procurement.

·         Perform other duties as required

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level

Master degree or equivalent

Educational additional comments

Master’s degree in economics, supply chain management, business administration or related field, Project Management or other relevant academic background.

Required experience

36 Months

Experience remark

•At least three years practical experience in Procurement & Supply Chain management

•Knowledge of UN Procurement Processes

Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages, experience in handling of web-based management systems.

Language skills

·         English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent

Procurement and contracting, Logistics and supply management, Other premises management/maintenance, supply, or purchasing related experience

Area of expertise details

Economics, supply chain management, business administration or related field, Project Management or other relevant academic background
