JOB ANNOUNCEMENT The Georgetown University Center for Global Health Practice and Impact (CGHPI) serves countries to improve their population health and wellbeing and to safeguard against health-related threats by advancing the use of evidence and human-centered enterprise architecture on the path towards achieving equity and social justice. To achieve this mission, we catalyze the uptake, spread, and implementation of innovations; triangulate data from different sources, and tailor visualization of the information for each audience; design and implement integrated service delivery models; support communities of practice to inform policy and practice through efficient data use and horizontal and vertical collaboration; disseminate best practices and evidence globally through open-source learning networks; build global, collaborative, multi-disciplinary, and interprofessional networks; undertake research that is informed by local needs; and invest in local leadership to own, provide oversight, and sustain implemented interventions. Georgetown University, through CGHPI, has recently received an award from U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (U.S. CDC) through funding from the U.S President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) to support HIV response efforts in Cameroon for achievement of HIV epidemic control to implement a program titled Translating Data and Evidence into Impact (TIDE). As a result, CGHPI is recruiting for the following program implementation position. All prospective candidates must be fluent in French and working knowledge of English. These positions will be based in Yaoundé or Bertoua. CGHPI is operating in Cameroon as Georgetown Global Health LLC (GGHC). Position: Laboratory Health Workforce Development Advisor Reports to: Program Director Location of Work: Yaounde, Cameroon Number of positions: 1 Type of contract: Permanent Position Summary: The Laboratory Health Workforce Development Advisor will provide high quality, workforce development advice and support to enable the GU to achieve its corporate objectives, delivery and evaluation of training and working with external providers to ensure identified training needs are met and to support cultural change at all levels. Essential Functions: • Review, monitor and produce training plans • Support managers to undertake workforce monitoring, analysis and succession planning and produce reports as required including external returns and surveys • Coordinate, develop and deliver appropriate training for line managers and employees in respect to workforce development issues • Develop, implement and evaluate targeted, innovative workforce development interventions to facilitate cultural change and service improvement • Contribute to the maintenance and review of external quality accreditations • Develop internal and external partnerships to ensure all workforce development activities are coordinated, bench marked, add value and help the workforce to improve • Consult with Corporate Directors, Heads of Service and Managers on the training and development implications arising from strategic initiatives, legislative changes and the implementation of shared work streams • Ensure that identified training needs are planned and resourced accordingly within appropriate timescales to meet Team priorities • Review annually the training and development requirements highlighting priorities for the coming year • Assist the Human Resources Manager in the management of the training budget by ensuring that appropriate reporting and monitoring mechanisms are in place • Develop and deliver a comprehensive programmer of employee training and development by: o Supporting managers and supervisors to identify training and development needs for all staff on an individual and group basis o Advising managers and staff on appropriate solutions available to meet identified development needs o Designing, organizing, delivering and facilitating training events where appropriate o Advising individual employees on development needs and provide support where appropriate o Identifying suitable external providers and monitoring and evaluating supplier agreements and contracts o Evaluating, training and developing solutions in order to ensure quality, effectiveness and value for money • Ensure that equality, diversity and inclusion are promoted and considered in all aspects of the Workforce Development Team’s responsibilities • Report and provide advice to Committees, Consultative Forums and formal meetings and working groups as required to support workforce development • Network, develop and maintain productive and rewarding working relationships both internally and externally with partners, stakeholders and outside organizations to share best practice, improve service delivery raise the profile of the both organizations Qualifications and Experience: • Master’s Degree in Management, Business Administration or any other related field • At least 5 years of experience in a similar position in a reputable organization • Basic understanding of donor operations particularly USG will be an added advantage • Good understanding of administrative procedures within a structured organization • Assets and inventory management experience using automated tracking system is an advantage • Excellent writing, organization, coordination, and communication skills • High proficiency in computer office solutions • Proficient in communicating in English and French Instructions for Submitting Applications 1.
