PROJECT: Global Health Supply Chain – Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC- PSM) Cameroon
The purpose of the Global Health Supply Chain (GHSC) – Procurement and Supply Management (PSM) project is to ensure uninterrupted supplies of health commodities in support of USG-funded public health initiatives around the world. The project provides direct procurement and supply chain management support to the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), and Population and Reproductive Health. In supporting USG-funded global health activities, USAID|GHSC/PSM will develop and manage a wide array of services for health commodity procurement and related systems strengthening technical assistance encompassing different elements of a comprehensive supply chain.
At the country level, USAID|GHSC/PSM supports country strategies and priorities that fall under the following three project objectives:
Global Commodity Procurement and Logistics
Systems Strengthening Technical Assistance
Global Collaboration to Improve Long-Term Availability of Health Commodities.
The overall goal of GHSC-PSM in Cameroon is to ensure uninterrupted supplies of health commodities in PEPFAR and PMI supported regions.
The IT Support Consultant is part of the GHSC-PSM project team responsible for providing technical support to staff in all aspects of information technology. The IT Support Consultant works with the project regional team based in the Douala Office in the areas of computer operations, computer repair, wire and cable installation, user, and desktop support (hardware and software), helpdesk, and data management. He/she will monitor, operate, coordinate, assist and train other colleagues in the operation of computer hardware, software, and peripherals to achieve desired result.
Specific tasks to be completed under this SOW are as follows:
Provides technical support in the use of personal computer hardware, software, and specialized mainframe technology
Sets up and configures desktop and laptop computers, peripherals and accounts assigning security level;
Installs software and installs and repairs hardware and peripherals;
Monitor, Troubleshoots, diagnoses problems, implements corrective action procedures and/or escalates to other technical resources as appropriate;
Administers user accounts;
Designs and produces monthly and weekly reports to the LMIS Specialist;
Researches and recommends system equipment upgrades and manages equipment inventory ;
Troubleshoots, repairs and maintenance for computer equipment (e.g. microcomputers, disk drives, and laser printers) tests personal computers and peripherals on a network to diagnose, hardware versus software problems and escalates corrective procedures to other technical resources as appropriate;
Acts as a customer liaison for the computing operation, communicating, resolving, and/or initiating the resolution of problems and concerns;
Develops and tests user documentation;
Works with hardware vendors to resolve equipment failures/problems;
Perform routine security checks on the system;
Installs, repairs and removes wire and cable lines;
Have an advanced understanding of network wiring and TCP-IP and the ability to use such understanding to build and maintain a functional network.
Proceed to server room maintenance work (Network and power cables, server rack mounting)
Performs any other task entrusted to him by his supervisor.
License in Computer Science / Network in administration system,
1-3 years of demonstrated work experience in providing customer service in a technological environment,
Knowledge of a variety of hardware, software, programming languages, and operation systems ,
Basic knowledge of network protocols and some experience with computer applications and operating systems ,
Strong proficiency in Microsoft office products including Word and Excel ,
Proficiency in Trello ,
Fluency in French and English required ,
Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings ,
Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team in a dynamic, fast paced environment are also required,
Ability to analyze a problem and pick the best and most cost-effective solution,
Ability to solve problems outside the initial area of expertise.
The IT Support Consultant will report directly to the LMIS Specialist.
Location of Assignment
The location of assignment is to be based in Douala. Intermittent local travel may be required.
Working Conditions/Duration of Assignment
This position is a part time position with no benefits offered.
Contract will be annual and renewed based on satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
