TITLE: IT Associate PROJECT: Global Health Supply Chain – Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC- PSM) Cameroon
The Procurement and Supply Management project will be the primary vehicle through which USAID will
procure and provide health commodities,
provide technical assistance to improve partner countries’ management of the supply chain, and
collaborate with key international stakeholders to support global health initiatives.
The Cameroon office will work under two of the project’s task orders (HIV/AIDS and Malaria) to provide commodities and supply chain technical assistance.
The IT associate is part of the GHSC-PSM project team responsible for providing technical support to staff in all aspects of information technology. The IT Associate works with the project central level and regional teams in the areas of computer operations, computer repair, wire and cable installation, user and desktop support (hardware and software), helpdesk, and data management. He/she will monitor, operate, coordinate, assist and train other colleagues in the operation of computer hardware, software, and peripherals to achieve desired result.
Specific tasks to be completed under this SOW are as follows:
Provides technical support in the use of personal computer hardware, software, and specialized mainframe technology
Sets up and configures desktop and laptop computers, peripherals and accounts assigning security level;
Installs software and installs and repairs hardware and peripherals;
Troubleshoots, diagnoses problems, implements corrective action procedures and/or escalates to other technical resources as appropriate;
Administers user accounts;
Designs and produces regular reports to the operations director;
Researches and recommends system equipment upgrades and manages equipment inventory;
Troubleshoots, repairs and maintenance for computer equipment (e.g. microcomputers, disk drives, and laser printers) tests personal computers and peripherals on a network to diagnose, hardware versus software problems and escalates corrective procedures to other technical resources as appropriate;
Acts as a customer liaison for the computing operation, communicating, resolving, and/or initiating the resolution of problems and concerns;
Develops and tests user documentation;
Works with hardware vendors to resolve equipment failures/problems;
Perform routine security checks on the system;
Installs, repairs and removes wire and cable lines;
Performs any other task entrusted to him by his supervisor.
Bachelor degree in Computer Science,
2-3 years of demonstrated work experience in providing customer service in a technological environment.
Knowledge of a variety of hardware, software, programming languages, and operation systems.
Basic knowledge of network protocols and some experience with computer applications and operating systems.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft office products including Word and Excel.
Fluency in French and English required
Able to travel up to 30% of the time within the region,
Basic knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL.
Experience with the existing electronic reporting platforms for HIV (OSPSIDA, DAMA, etc.) and or malaria (SMS for life, district management tool, etc.) a plus.
Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team in a dynamic, fast paced environment are also required.
Ability to analyze a problem and pick the best and most cost-effective solution.
Ability to solve problems outside of the initial area of expertise
Cameroonian nationals and or long-term working resident experience in Cameroon with strong understanding of the Cameroon public health and pharmaceutical sector, preferred
The IT Associate will report directly to the Operations Director. Location of Assignment The location of assignment is to be based in Yaoundé. Intermittent local travel may be required. Working Conditions/Duration of Assignment This is a contract for unspecified period
