Innovation DIGNITI Project Coordinator

The purpose of the Project Coordinator position is to provide essential technical and management support in delivering quality activities in line with the DIGNITI project. In addition to strategies related to innovation in humanitarian response for the wider country team and its partners.

The DIGNITI project is an innovative way to carry out our humanitarian response. Based on the cash modality, the project aims at assisting the Internally displaced people (IDPs) and host communities to have access to food, shelter, water and other basic services. With DIGNITI, we use a mobile App and other technologies to ease the implementation of our cash based interventions.

This role will be responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of the project’s activities, coordinating the staff and outputs of the project and ensuring compliance with NRC and donor standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

Project management:

  • Design, research, develop, analyse and suggest new innovation concepts as well as strategies related to the improvement of the DIGNITI products in order to reach project objectives;
  • Develop high-performance atmosphere within the DIGNITI team and collaborate well with others, coordinating the use of the DIGNITI products both internally and externally;
  • Manage and evaluate project data and innovation pipeline assisting strategic decision-making;
  • Work with innovation groups and clusters to conduct insights, as well as design outputs for their work, in order to improve the DIGNITI solutions;
  • Help to translate strategies into procedures and programmes and perform as key resource on innovation and related processes;
  • Exercise effective decision-making and independent judgment while being aligned with internal policies and management best practices.

Donor Reporting, Monitoring and Compliance:

  • Coordinate timely and quality donor reporting ensuring consistency between narrative and financial reports;
  • Highlight critical financial issues such as under/over spends to finance and Budget Holders, and follow up in writing when discussed verbally;
  • Support and advise project team with queries related to donor compliance;
  • Coordinate the project review meetings and closure of the project according to the internal procedures;
  • Assist in training and capacity building on innovation and projects management as required.

Communication and public relations:

  • Represent NRC at coordination and media fora and support the identification of communication opportunities;
  • Support the preparation of analysis, updates, key messages, talking points and briefing materials for private and public use;
  • Support the development and implementation of the project’s communication and public relations strategies.

Others

  • Ensure all key project documentation is available in the NRC online Filing tree (Office 365);
  • Support with capacity building of staff and partners and monitoring purposes;
  • Represent NRC with partners as delegated.    

Qualifications

  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in a related field;
  • Experience of program and project management in humanitarian/recovery context;
  • Experience working in complex/ insecure environments and with displaced populations;
  • Good understanding of donor rules and regulations;
  • Proven skills and experience proposal development and reporting and working with multiple donors;
  • Good personal organizational skills, including time management, and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure;
  • Staff capacity-building experience;
  • Willingness to travel to the field and work in difficult environment according to travel requirements;
  • Fluency in French and English, both written and verbal.

Personal qualities

  • Good knowledge of innovation and technology is essential;
  • Good knowledge of the context in Cameroon, especially the Far North;
  • Strong writing and reporting skills;
  • Knowledge of the humanitarian coordination framework;
  • Budget development and management experience;
  • Organized and detail oriented;
  • Proactive and able to lead new initiatives;
  • Able to work in teams ;
  • Flexible and hard working;
  • Experience is cash programming is an asset.
