Eligibility criteria
Minimum age: 25 years old. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.
Description of task
  1. Supports the monitoring and consolidation of information on the humanitarian situation, including humanitarian access constraints, and drafts regular updates/ reports focusing on achievement of the following results:

 

  • Monitor the humanitarian situation in the country and gather and consolidate humanitarian information from different sources and stakeholders;
  • Support the timely production of OCHA Myanmar humanitarian reporting and advocacy products, including but not limted to:
  • Daily Operational Update
  • Weekly Internal Report
  • Input to Regional Office (ROAP) Weekly Snapshot
  • Humanitarian Flash Updates (as required)
  • Themed advocacy products for OCHA Digital Platform
  • Social Media platforms
  • Support the timely data collection and analysis of humanitarian access in Myanmar, contributing to public and internal reporting, as well as advocacy products;
  • Provide secretariat support for the work of the Humanitarian Access Working Group in Myanmar;
  • Draft regular reports/humanitarian updates on Myanmar as required for internal and external use (United Nations Country Team, Humanitarian Country Team, Partnership meetings) and ensure briefing on the country in appropriate information, coordination and other meetings organized by OCHA-Myanmar;
  • Support drafting of documents for senior management as requested;
  • Participate in relevant meetings and workshops and ensure consolidation of information, data and analyses is provided.

 

 

  1. Ensures facilitation of knowledge building and management focusing on achievement of the following results:

 

  • Identification and synthesis of best practices and lessons learned directly linked to OCHA country goals and activities.
  • Support to training initiatives on communications as appropriate, including building the capacity of OCHA field staff.

Master degree or equivalent
Educational additional comments

Education - Additional Comments: Completed advanced university degree (Master’s Degree) in political and/or social science, international relations, public administration, law, economics, engineering, earth sciences or related fields.

Required Experience: One year of relevant professional experience in humanitarian affairs, emergency preparedness, crisis/emergency relief management, rehabilitation, development, monitoring and evaluations or other related areas. Familiarity with humanitarian access concepts and analytical tools desirable.

Experience Description:

  • Proven abilities in information analysis and strong English drafting abilities.
  • Ability to work with multi-cultural teams and international professionals. Knowledge of international agencies’ operations related to humanitarian assistance and familiarity with the UN system. Able to travel and live in complex environment.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and under stressful conditions.
Language skills
  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
