Job type : Full Time

Details Mission and objectives

GLOWA fights against human trafficking and the damage it creates in our communities throughout the Northwest region of Cameroon through community education to prevent trafficking, support for victims, and advocacy on their behalf. Through these works, GLOWA aims to nurture a culture of respect for human rights, particularly those of children and women, in the region and fight against the systematic abuses faced by the most vulnerable.

Context

The North West and South West Regions of Cameroon are experiencing an armed conflict since 2017. The conflict has negatively affected lives with more than 70% of schools closed and thousands of children put out of school. Hundreds of villages and homes have been raised by flames. The result has been an increased vulnerability of children especially young girls to trafficking and exploitation in the sexual and domestic services sectors. The Norwegian Refugee Council has classified the conflict as the most neglected in the world for the third year running. GLOWA is presently engaged in the development of modules and tools to help in the provision of vocational training to rescued victims of child trafficking and other vulnerable young people especially in the restive North West Region of Cameroon

Task Description

We seek the services of online volunteers to build on the work of previous volunteers to work on the Second Phase of a project to develop modules and tools for vocational training in sewing, embroidery, hairdressing, and shoemaking. Working with other team members including a Subject Master Expert, the volunteers shall break an existing modules into small and teachable components. The tools and modules to be developed should help GLOWA to transform the way survivors of modern slavery are rehabilitated in Cameroon.
