General Manager - South Africa (Mine site-based)

Leadership position opening for a highly motivated, self-driven Manager for a permanent position with a smaller mining company based on site close to Gauteng. This is an operating, contractor led mine with an owner led processing plant. The position reports to the group CEO and board and is responsible for all site activities. The ideal person for this position should be an innovative problem solver who will be required to build a strong culture, provide direction to senior management and motivate teams in order to deliver profitable operations.

You will Manage a forward-thinking team, with lots of autonomy to break records and increase business profitability.

Role & Experience:

  • Required around 5 years’ experience leading a small to medium sized mining company.
  • You will account and report effectively to the Group CEO and the Board.
  • Build and maintain a solid professional working relationship with the Group Chief Executive Officer and the Chairman of the Board to ensure high-level business leadership.
  • Take part in the development and lead the deployment of the company’s long-term strategy with a view to create sustainable shareholder value.
  • Provide sound leadership to the business and thus unlock positive business resource and energies to attain business excellence.
  • Manage the business operations ensuring effective and efficient functions and resources in: Health and Safety Environment, Quality, Human Resources, Public Relations, Community Liaison, Budget Management and Control, Facilities Management, Information and Technology, Engineering, Supply Chain and Procurement Management, Project Implementation, Mining Operations, Strategic Management, Board Operations, Public Management,  Corporate Governance, Leadership, Sales and Marketing, Finance, Communications, Geology and Exploration.
  • Communicate effectively with the Board, Shareholders, Employees, Government Authorities, Public and other Stakeholders.
  • You are expected to be qualified in either Mining, Metallurgical, Mechanical Engineering OR related tertiary qualification.

Salary & Package:

Negotiable and competitive salary for the right candidate paid in SA Rand, the company offer a comprehensive package which includes an above market related base salary and medical package, pension, housing and potential relocation allowance with incentives.
