PURPOSE

  • Work at the tier 1 & 2 to deliver engineering functional expertise across the area/site and support the days-based asset care support team and external contractors to resolve sophisticated Electrical problems
  • Lead and advocate good governance around internal and external compliance (health & safety, quality, and environment).
  • Co-ordinate the activities software control and set the standards of control within each shift team with specific responsibilities in assigned Areas
  • Continuous Improvement - accountable for specialist improvement activity
  • Provide high levels of specialist support to the operations teams.
  • Support in delivery of outstanding performance in all aspects of the balanced scorecard (Safety, Quality, Environment, Asset Care, Delivery, Productivity, Cost and Morale).
  • Support asset care team in preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment
  • Support continuous improvement in asset management Organize and implement preventive maintenance.
  • To adjust, inspect and repair machine to prevent future line breakdowns, to maintain equipment in maximum operating condition and to prevent losses
  • Ensure machine maintenance is carried out in line with the preventative maintenance plan, team goals and as per work instructions
  • Follow up and make sure Short Interval Control on critical equipment are continuously supervised to meet customer demand
  • Participate in RCPS session regarding all equipment and ensure actions are closed in a timely manner
  • Ensure notification are raised and SIR cards as well as their closure
  • Develop and coordinate 5S in plants Areas
  • Support in the development of SOP and work instruction on equipment
  • Coordinate and follow up execution of minor capex projects in assigned areas

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Qualifications

  • A qualified time served trade (Electrical, Automation, Electro technical and Instrumentation) or local equivalent, DUT, Bachelor High National Degree of Industrial or Electrical, Automation, Electro technical
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical and PLC software management Siemens S7 (Simatic Manager & TIA Portal),
  • Relevant IBD qualification (General Certificate in Spirits/Beer Packaging) or willing to complete.
  • Minimum of 5 years proven experience in an industrial environment / competence in Operations, Maintenance, Process Control and Performance Measurement in a brewery or drinks or food manufacturing environment.
  • Good understanding of production equipment (Fillers, conveyors, vacuum pump, CIP plant, Boiler, Borehole, pumps, Variable Frequency drives, Pasto, etc.)
  • Knowledge of world class manufacturing techniques & standards.
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Structured problem evaluation & solving skills.

Experience Essential:

  • Ability to manage people performance, coaching and development of a multi-disciplined team
  • Thorough solid understanding and demonstrated expertise in all areas of facilities plant in area
  • Basic financial awareness, understanding of business drivers, budgeting processes.
  • Proficient in use of standard business (MS Office) and Diageo packages.
  • Project Management skills & experience
  • Demonstrate detailed understanding of Permit to Work system and GCSA SHE policies, statutory requirements, and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate understanding of teamwork principles, continuous improvement, preventative maintenance, and problem solving.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

As Day Electrician:

  • Ensure alignment to Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality Standards and compliance to facilities regulatory standards at all times
  • To diagnose, solve and repair faults on Plant equipment or machinery as well as carrying out routine maintenance.
  • Develop and implement standard methodology in automation and software control
  • Accountable for medium- and long-term technical solutions.
  • Provide technical support to Capex projects
  • Provide Engineering with appropriate feedback re automation engineering issues
  • Support the activities of the shift engineering teams to deliver the site preventative maintenance activities
  • To maintain (inspect and adjust) Electrical / Automation l Equipment proactively as per maintenance targets to continually improve site efficiency, to optimise equipment availability and to minimise losses and risk.
  • To suggest improvements in the operation, seek approval and implement to establish harmonious relations with the operational staff and to work flexibly with them
  • To train operational team members to perform minor maintenance tasks and to assist in major repairs.
  • To act at all times within the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act.
  •  To maintain a records system giving details of stoppages with actions to correct
  • To work shifts as required to cover the needs of the factory
  • Embed the deployment of the MMS standard methodologies within the support team
  • Lead the specialist support team to ensure maximum equipment availability
  • Attend daily asset care review meetings, and take appropriate action to provide support to course correct non conformance
  • Develop team morale, recognise great performance and take timely action to address under performance where vital
  • Role model and coach operators and technicians in the use of problem-solving tools
  • Apply specialist knowledge to lead improvement projects using DMAIC methodology
  • Engage with the Daily Operational Review meetings as required to raise, discuss and follow up on persistent performance issues to root cause problem solving and effective control
  • Close and update all the jobs completed on the field
  • Follow-up plant availability and reliability performances within Assigned area
  • Key player in maintenance & scheduling meeting
  • Custodian of OEM visit and implement recommendations
  • Identify and follow his training needs
  • Identify critical machines (top 3) the highest down time recorded per week
  • Engineering action plan monitoring trackers
  • Follow up and complete maintenance activities tasks
  • Follow-up spares part consumption closely with the store and ensure the right stock level is maintained
