Job Description- Coordinator in Public Health Background: The Center for Health Promotion and Research provides high quality laboratory diagnostic services, undertakes programs to strengthen the health system, and engages in research to increase knowledge and inform policy change. Position summary: Coordinate activities of regional team to improve TB case finding; full-time position based in Bamenda or Douala, with approximately 15-25% travel to other regions. Typical responsibilities: • Oversee selection, training and supervision of sites and personnel for health service delivery activities to improve provision of care for people with TB • Participate in continued adaptation and improvement of project operational plan • Develop monthly project plans and keep all relevant stakeholders informed • Manage activities across multiple sites to keep sites on target to meet objectives • Manage resources effectively to ensure the success of the project • Develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to foster effective work and future collaboration • Participate in regular team meetings to review progress and deliverables • Liaise between different team members to identify and resolve problems encountered in the course of the work • Communicate information about project in a timely manner, using project communication tools and channels • Monitor key indicators, including quality indicators, for screening, testing and follow-up of people evaluated for TB • Assist to summarize results and prepare reports for monthly and quarterly project reporting • Participate in continuing education programs, workshops, and seminars as possible • Depending on interests and qualifications of the candidate, additional responsibilities may include participation in laboratory and/or research activities • Other duties as needed to ensure the success of the work Job Qualifications: • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Sciences, Humanities, Management, Business, or related area • Strong interest and passion to work as part of team to improve public health • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English or French, good working knowledge in the 2nd language is an advantage • Ability to plan own work, set priorities and complete under pressure • Proven aptitude for leadership • Willingness to travel to implement activities • Proven competency in software applications (eg. Word, Excel, etc) with the ability to learn new programs and skills quickly • A high level of initiative and the ability to work independently • Detail oriented • Proficiency in strategic planning and project management or willingness to learn This position is planned for 6 months with possibility for renewal depending on funding availability.
