Overview

The Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation’s mission is to catalyze Africa’s economic transformation by focusing on social entrepreneurship, science and technology, innovation, public health, and implementing progressive policies that create economic opportunities for all.

The Nkafu Policy Institute is a nonpartisan, independent think tank at the Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation. The Institute provides independent, in-depth and insightful policy recommendations that advance the Cameroonian economy and the economies of other sub-Saharan African countries.

Job Description

Community Health Workers (CHW) will be responsible for identifying eligible pregnant women or households with eligible pregnant women. They will also map the research district and train pregnant women and their families to use the BornFyne mobile application, including follow-up of pregnant women up to 2 months after delivery. CHW will work in the field under the guidance and supervision of the district medical officers. They must be living within Bangem or Tiko Health Districts.

Duties

Identify pregnant women or households with pregnant women eligible for the research.
Use a mobile phone application to map the location coordinates of the research site
Teach pregnant women and their households how to download and use the BornFyne application on their phones.
Check and ensure women are using the application correctly
Assist pregnant women in accessing health care during emergencies.
Monitor enrollees and community with hospitals during ANC, delivery and postpartum.
Provide helpful feedback from field research activities
Required Skills

Experience working with mobile phone applications
Willingness to learn, explore new experiences and work in remote settings.
Must be ready to respond to emergency care at any time of the day.
Speak and write the English language fluently.
Can communicate in Pidgin and local dialect. Good knowledge of the French language is an added advantage but not a requirement
Candidates must have a high level of integrity and respect for confidentiality.
