Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 25 years old. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the unit coordinator and in collaboration with programme officers, or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer will:

·         Draft visual/graphic design products, communication material, propose editorial and digital content and communication products to be used as an advocacy and fundraising tool

·         Assist with the revision, editing and layouts of texts and/or documents pertaining to external relations, projects and reporting

·         Assist programme officers in the proposal development stage to identify relevant communication content

·         Support donor recognition and visibility in project related outputs, throughout the project life cycle and reporting and keep tracker of donor publications and posts

·         Perform any other related duties, as required by the functional supervisor

Masters Degree in communications, journalism, public relations or a related field.

Experience remark

·         At least three/3 years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in communications in an international environment, awareness and interest in international development

·         Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;

·         Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;

·         Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Publisher) and other (graphic) design applications

·         Basic design and layout skills

·         Demonstrated and extensive social media experience is an added advantage.

·         Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;

·         Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;

·         Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;

·         Sound security awareness;

·         Have affinity with or interest in Public Health volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
