POSITION TITLE:  French-English Communication and Interpretation Officer

Description of tasks :


Under the supervision of the Permanent Secretary of CARITAS, the person concerned will have to ensure institutional communication as well as translations and interpretation in English and French languages ??within Caritas Maroua-Mokolo.

Proposed activities:
Within the Caritas team, you ensure:

COMMUNICATION AND PUBLIC RELATIONS
  • Organize activities to enhance the visibility of the organization;
  • Supervise the production of different types of communication on the project and the Organization (flyers, banners, plaques, roll-ups, etc.);
  • Monitor the evolution of the socio-economic and political context and ensure the dissemination of relevant information within the Caritas team;
  • Create and update online information sources (face-book, blog, twiter, etc.).
MEDIA RELATIONS AND VISIBILITY
  • Supervise media coverage of initiatives and events organized by Caritas (preparation of press kits, press releases, organization of press trips to capture the impact of interventions on communities and beneficiaries)
  • Contribute to giving visibility to the Organization
  • Produce and oversee content for the Organization's digital platforms.
ENGLISH-FRENCH INTERPRETING AND TRANSLATION:
  • Ensure the translation of documents, letters and reports into French or English languages;
  • Provides French-English interpretation during regional meetings.
STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS AND ADVOCACY 
  • Produce the Organization's advocacy materials
  • Guarantee the confidentiality of the information collected from the interlocutors;
  • Carry out any other task related to his qualifications at the request of the officials of Caritas Maroua-Mokolo.
Minimum experience required:

Skills expected for this position:
  • Have at least 2 years of professional experience in the media, public information, or other relevant programs;
  • You hold a degree in translation (English language specialty);
  • You have experience in an NGO environment;
  • Excellent command of English and French;
  • Excellent oral and written skills in French and English languages;
  • Excellent drafting, formulation and reporting skills;
  • Accuracy and professionalism in the production and editing of documents;
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national staff;
  • Strong general computer skills, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet;
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimal supervision;
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines;
  • Excellent relational sense
  • Precise sense of needs analysis.
COMPOSITION OF APPLICATION FILES:

The application file must include the following elements:
  • A letter of motivation addressed to the Coordinator of Caritas of the diocese of Maroua-Mokolo;
  • A detailed curriculum vitae with the names and addresses of three referees;
  • A photocopy of the national identity card;
  • A photocopy of the birth certificate;
  • Copies of the highest significant diplomas obtained and other professional references;
  • Copies of practical references (work certificates, training certificates, etc.) 
  • A letter of recommendation from a religious leader (Imam, Pastor, Priest).
Submission of applications by electronic means (e-mail) is accepted. Caritas Maroua-Mokolo reserves the right to verify the authenticity of the documents in the files. Incomplete files or files that do not meet the required qualifications will not be accepted. Only selected candidates will be invited to take the written and oral tests.

CONTRACT:
Place of work : Bishopric of the Diocese in Maroua
Type of contract: Fixed-term employment contract of twelve (12) months with strong possibility of renewal.
Remuneration: to be negotiated.
