Positioning in the organisation

 Under the responsibility of the Director of the company

Main responsibilities

 

  • Develop and monitor plant production (detailed annual work plans with monitoring and evaluation indicators)
  • Implement production quality control and set up procedure manuals for plant production
  • Ensure the productivity and profitability of production sites
  • Design and ensure the implementation of an irrigation system suitable for cocoa and companion crops
  • Develop a crop fertilisation strategy and ensure its implementation
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards in force in plant production
  • Ensure compliance with health and regulatory protocols for animal production
  • Provide training and retraining of employees in good agronomic practices
  • Manage a team of agricultural employees
  • Support the sales force as a technical adviser
  • Any other mission, in connection with the main ones set out above, decided by the director according to the progress of the business project

Activities & tasks

  • Prepare an annual action plan for plant production with monitoring and evaluation indicators
  • Participation in the preparation of the yearly budget to support the implementation of the action plan
  • Write standard operating procedure manuals in plant production in line with the entrepreneurial vision of ABK Cocoa Farm
  • Design a training schedule for the appropriation of procedure manuals
  • Propose efficient irrigation scenarios for farms
  • Design and ensure the implementation of a crop fertilisation plan (choice of organic fertilisers, organisation and planning of fertilisations, negotiation with suppliers)
  • Any other task/activity defined by the employer concerning the missions of the position or proposed by the interested party

  • Professional associations (CICC, NCCB, agricultural cooperatives)
  • Public structures and their dismemberments (Ministries of agriculture, livestock, fishing  industries, environment, municipalities, IRAD, SODECAO, etc.)
  • Traditional chiefdoms and heads of rural communities
  • Audit consulting companies

Conditions and place of work

  • Post based in Nkoteng (with residence in Nkoteng)
  • Regular visits to farms, to suppliers and other stakeholders

Job profile

Skills and experience

• An agronomist by training (plant, animal production), you have a minimum of 3 years of professional experience after graduation in the field/farm management/ agricultural project development etc.

• You have relevant experience in agro-industry, with a pronounced taste for the field.

You have acquired this experience in plant and / or animal production, ideally with an agro-industrialist, in the cultivation of cocoa, banana-plantain or an agricultural research institution (IRAD, CARBAP, FASA).

• You are enthusiastic, autonomous and organised. You are passionate about the plant world; you have a strong taste for innovation and research. This position offers a considerable autonomy to take up significant challenges such as that of repositioning the cocoa sector in Cameroon on the international market, the certification of cocoa or even adaptation to climate change.
