JOB DESCRIPTION

CONTEXT:

Cameroon is one of the countries most affected by HIV in West and Central Africa (4.3% of adults at average risk of childbearing age - DHS 2011). The prevalence among key populations is alarming. A high prevalence of HIV is associated with high-risk sexual behaviors such as inconsistent use of condoms and lubricants and a high rate of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Stigma and discrimination further marginalized key populations by limiting their access to health services, such as antiretroviral therapy, and reducing the country's ability to control the HIV epidemic.

The national response is led by the National AIDS Control Committee, which coordinates the implementation of the 2011-2015 National HIV / AIDS Strategic Plan. This policy aims to reduce morbidity and mortality linked to HIV and STIs and to mitigate its socioeconomic impact on Cameroonian society. Among the strategic approaches, the plan emphasizes improving access to prevention, care and treatment for key populations.

It is in this context that the CHAMP Project funded by USAID in 07 cities in Cameroon namely: Yaoundé, Douala, Bafoussam, Bamenda, Ngaoundéré, Bertoua and Kribi is working to respond to this insufficiency.
