 RECRUITMENT NOTICE

 The JRS (Jesuit Refugee Service) is looking for 08 Education Monitoring Officers for its project in the Littoral (Douala, Melong)) and West (Babadjou, Santchou) in Cameroon.
 
NB: offer exclusively reserved for Cameroonian national candidates.
 
The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is a Catholic non-governmental organization that provides support and assistance to refugees and forcibly displaced people in more than 50 countries around the world. JRS is a work of the Society of Jesus whose mission is to accompany, serve and defend the rights of refugees and displaced persons. This mission is rooted in faith in God who is present at the heart of human history, even in its most tragic moments.

 ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT  
 
Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international Catholic organization working in more than 50 countries whose mission is to accompany, serve and defend the rights of refugees and forcibly displaced persons. JRS has been present in Cameroon since 2015.  
PROPOSED CONDITIONS
Duration: 04 Months  
Trial period: 15 days renewable once.
Type of contract: CDD
Start of assignment: As soon as possible
Remuneration:salary aligned with the JRS salary grid and the experience and potential of the successful candidate.

 JOB DESCRIPTION OF EDUCATION MONITORING AGENT Job
title:      Education Monitoring Agent Base: Littoral, West
Country: Cameroon Region: West Africa
 
 
Introduction  
 
The overall objective of the project is to promote access to quality education for internally displaced children in the North-West and South-West regions of children from communities in the Littoral and West, through the following specific objectives:
 
1. To improve the quality of education by increasing the pupil/teacher ratio, by organizing teacher training sessions on inclusive education, by recruiting teachers for remedial courses, by establishing a system measuring student performance, and tracking progress and distributing teaching and learning materials  
 
2.Increase the attendance rate of primary and/or secondary schools in the area of ??intervention through sensitizing the community on the importance of education, carrying out home visits, organizing mobilization activities and individual monitoring of class attendance and increasing community participation in the life of the school through the understanding and involvement of parents in the parents' association and in school affairs, and by carrying out surveys on school drop- outs General objective of the position • Assist the Education Objective Coordinator (secondary and/or primary) in planning the various activities linked to the monitoring of teachers.
 


• Plan and monitor the work of teachers in secondary and/or primary schools in charge of remedial classes in the area of ??intervention;
• Participate in the training and evaluation of teachers of remedial courses in general knowledge and pedagogy.
? Collaborate and work as a team with project managers and staff.  
 
Main responsibilities of position
1 Planning of activities
? Under the supervision of the Education Goal Coordinator, plan and prepare weekly activities in the schools concerned. .
2 Project implementation
? Follow up on lessons learned;
? Follow up on the effectiveness of courses through the control of the regularity of teachers and students;
? Analyze the strengths and weaknesses and propose measures to improve the quality of education  
    ? Organize, under the supervision of the Regional Education Coordinator, teacher training in inclusive education;
? Participate in awareness-raising meetings, training and pedagogical supervision in conjunction with basic education inspectors, school principals, APE officials, teachers on school governance;
? Ensure the maintenance and proper use of the equipment made available to
the school;
? Participate in any other activity related to the implementation of the project
3 Reporting
? Prepare teacher monitoring reports.
? Write and submit to the Goal Coordinator, weekly and monthly reports of educational activities.
4 Evaluation
? Participate in the identification of educational problems and new needs;
? Propose useful actions to improve education at primary and secondary level;
? Participate in the evaluation of the expected results of the project.
? Participate in the organization of surveys on dropping out of school or any other survey aimed at reducing the factors of student drop-out. 
 
 Required profile
Skills and Qualifications
1. Experience working in early childhood education and education, community education projects and/or community mobilization;
2. Have a good knowledge of pedagogy and have completed secondary education;
3. Be perfectly bilingual (English/French in writing and orally). 
4. Professional attitude and behaviour: ability to work in a team but also autonomy in the exercise of one's duties, dynamism, honesty, sense of organization
5. Knowledge of computer tools, especially software: Word, Excel.
